Dealer Interview: Greg Martinez
We reached out to Smartcell - Osceola in Kissimmee, FL, one of our top sales rankings in May, to learn more about their experience with selling SmartPay. Greg Martinez, the store manager, had a few thoughts to share, along with tips for other dealers.
How did you get your start in the wireless business?
4 years ago as a store manager for Sprint. I fell in love with how fast the wireless industry is growing and the impact cell phones have in today's world.
What has your experience been like with selling SmartPay? How has SmartPay helped you to increase sales?
SmartPay has really made it easy for reps to pitch to customers with your easy to use application process and website. Applications take 5 min. max to complete and reps love it! Because we are in a commission based environment, time is always of the essence. SmartPay also gives our customers the financial freedom to purchase whatever they desire with an easy to understand contract agreement, allowing us to maximize each sale and cater to each customer’s needs without worrying about price.
What tips on selling SmartPay do you have for other dealers?
Use terms like "buy now pay later” instead of financing. Reps should know how to quote customers using the SmartPay calculator. Understand the payment terms and agreements. Quote customer the down payment upfront by saying "$35 down today gets you this phone and 3 accessories."

Yes. Employees receive $10 per finance app approved once the employee reaches 10 approved.
Any other thoughts you’d like to share?
Consistency is key, especially in sales. It takes 21 no's to hear 1 yes.
