Field Account Manager Spotlight: Charlene Armendariz

Field Account Manager Spotlight: Charlene Armendariz

Field Account Managers have a wide range of responsibilities. You may have interacted with your Field Account Manager to implement SmartPay in your store, for training purposes, to request marketing collateral, and/or to collaborate on sales contests and marketing events. Field Account Managers also build relationships with carrier representatives and sales directors in their regions by bringing them around to stores on ride-alongs, provide feedback to SmartPay on product improvements or urgent production issues, and more.

We’ve been sharing stories from folks in the field (both Smartpay sales team members and partners) to offer a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes, as well as to share with you some tips for success in selling SmartPay. This is our second Field Account Manager interview.

This month we interviewed Charlene Armendariz, SmartPay’s Field Account Manager in the Inland Empire/San Diego, CA area.

Describe a typical day as a Field Account Manager.

A typical day consists of sending emails, taking calls, role playing in stores with employees, training employees, meeting new clients and closing sales!

What do you like most about your role?

I enjoy the constant change of scenery, fast pace and the ever changing activities of each day. Every day there is something new that happens or someone new we meet!

Tell us about a challenge you’ve encountered as a FAM (and how you resolved it).

Any challenges that present themselves in this role can be overcome with hard work, persistence and patience!

How did you get started in your industry?

I started working in the wireless industry by chance!  In 2004 I went into a cell phone store to purchase an accessory.  The store manager recruited me to work at that particular wireless company. Fast forward to present day, and I am still working in and supporting the industry.

Do you have any tips/suggestions to share with dealers on selling SmartPay?

The best tip I would suggest is to create preset new line and upgrade bundles with the SmartPay calculator to present to your customers.  This will help offer customers a complete sale, show the value of SmartPay and your products, and improve your customer experience!

What do you enjoy most about the Southern California area?

I enjoy the weather, people and the food!

Are you a dealer who would like to be spotlighted in a future blog post? We’d love to hear more about how SmartPay has changed your business. Feel free to reach out to us at with “SmartBlog” in the subject line!
